Laser UID Code Marking Standards
The GAO (U.S. Government Accountability Office) estimated that the Department of Defense could have saved millions of dollars through better tracking of inventory. One method adopted by the DoD was new requirements on part tracking using permanently marked UID codes. Each symbol may use UCC.EAN, ANSI MH 10.8.2 or ATA style descriptors containing items such manufacturer, part number and serial number. Vendors supplying parts to the Department of Defense are required to supply parts with UID Data Matrix Symbols conforming to MIL-STD 130N Change 1.
CMS Laser UID code marking satisfies the DoD’s required MIL STD 130N Change 1, as well as ATA Spec 2000, ISO/IEC 15415, SAE AS9132, Aerospace IAQG AS9132 and ISO 16022 standards. With our systems to mark your codes, you can permanently identify virtually anything including crystal, glass, pharmaceutical tablets, plastics, stainless steel, metals, and more.
Advantages of Laser UID & 2D Code Marking
Manufacturers marking UID, 2D Matrix, barcodes, and the many other codes in use using lasers will find many advantages over ink-based systems. The overall cost per mark is reduced due to better mark permanence, increased throughput, no consumables, no mechanical part contact, and a simpler process to maintain over other marking methods.
UID Code & 2D Code Marking Systems
CMS Laser meets or exceeds all quality standards required for laser UID code marking, etching, and engraving. We develop your laser application at no cost or obligation to you, and each system is designed and built to your specific requirements. Systems may also include vision verification and validation, part-handling workstations, hands-free operation through automation, and full integration with facility computer networks and mainframes.
