CMS has developed a method of marking glass that eliminates the micro-fracturing caused by conventional laser etching techniques. Micro-fracturing is stressful to glass and can cause the glass to fail over time.
Our pulsing method eliminates micro-fracturing. A series of rapid laser pulses actually melts the glass, which dries instantly, creating a small dot approximately 0.008" in diameter. These dots can be arranged to compose text and graphic images of stunning clarity.
The space between the dots can be adjusted to increase the marking speed of the laser, or the quality of the resulting image. A longer space = fewer dots = faster marking speed. A shorter space = more dots = better image quality.
